Lock it up! The 2007 TubADubJam III / 2007 Shawshank Porsche VW Extravaganza is in the can! What started out as the worst flood in Mansfield in 40 years, turned out to be a great weekend for
VW and Porsche lovers at the Historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield , Ohio! With temperatures in the mid-80's throughout the weekend TubAdubJam III was a success. Now in it's third year the show in Mansfield is put on by the Ohio Tub Fanatics Classic 356 Porsche owners group (www.ohiotubfanatics.com) as a way to help raise funds to restore the Reformatory. This structure is well on its way to complete restoration thanks to events such as this one. With many opportunities to see the site where numerous Hollywood films were made including "The Shawshank Redemption", "Tango and Cash" and "Harry and Walter go to New York", many showgoers took tours of the building while attending the car show. Event coordinator Paul Smith added a few nice touches this year including a live band on friday night during the campout. Over 60 campers enjoyed the classic 70's music of "Cosmic Wheel" while cooking out or making trips to the "BierGarten" supplied by local longtime VW supporter Ben Bissman. Friday night ended with drum circles and good friends in anticipation of Saturdays events. Saturday dawned bright and early, but with the threat of rain throughout the day. Fortunately, the weather gods had been appeased and everyone remained dry all day. Events on Saturday included numerous songs and games provided by DJ Chuck Steele aka "The Geezer" and family. There were beautiful (and not so beautiful) VW's and Porsches to see throughout the day. 
The charm of this show is that it is not a concourse show, but was designed as a fun filled two day event. Top awards went to Doug Martin for his stunning 1965 Highly Modified VW Beetle and Joseph Fee for his immaculate stock 1983 Porsche 911. The best part of winning the six foot trophies was watching these two guys figure out how to fit them in their respective vehicles! With a record breaking 300+ tours given on Saturday the 2007 Tub-A-DubJam III was a roaring success. Thanks to all of the folks that helped out (as they do every year) including Richard King, The Craig Smith RV Center, The Ball Family, Ben, Mike and Ronnie at Pirate Printing. Cindy at Sun Graphics, Susan Nirode and The Ohio State Reformatory, Doug Keppler and his unflagging assistance, My nephew Mason and AC and all of our other volunteers and sponsors.
